What is best protection for the valveseats when grinding the bowls except not to contact them with the grinder?

Dont start the grinder till the cutter/drum is below the seats in the bowl. Make sure also to have the right cutter. And for Pete's sake dont let a $1000 head be the first thing you practice on.
