I sprayed a Charger fiberglass hood and set of valve covers with nos organisol DDL9355. Yes I said valve covers.

It took almost a qt of paint using a HVLP spraygun laying down 6 coats to obtain proper coverage. It was put over black epoxy primer. The texture is quite different from the currently available PPG lacquer mix. The pictures do not do the "look" justice.

Tech notes:

I used "retarder" [slows the drying time, adds gloss]

I made 6 passes, thinning as I went-Cross coating

I spent a lot of time setting up the work area.

It was 60 degrees.
