You can make it work with the caliper to the rear but you need late model calipers and different hoses.

Since you have a '70 model there is no reason to run the calipers to the rear. You'll have plenty of anti-sway bar clearance with the in-board mounts so just swap the knuckles side to side and everything should go together for you.

I recommend up grading to the 11.75 rotors while you have it apart. Just buy the taller caliper adapters from DoctorDiff and slide on the bigger rotors. You'll need 15 inch wheels but most cars would have those by now anyway.
