I also had one come apart and spread aluminum throughout my transmission. This was behind my 13-second 383. I sent it back and they rebuilt it. It seemed okay after that, and actually performed pretty well behind the 383. But, when I put it behind the 451 and put a heavier dose of torque to it, it ballooned emediately and caused potentially serious issues. I ended up having to pull the motor to address thrust bearing issues. After these two issues, I junked it and opted to to spend the money on a good converter.

Now, I do have another buddy that runs one in his Dart. Less weight and less torque (12.30 car). It seems to be standing up okay in his application.

I'd be leary of using one behind anything that is going to see the drag strip. Street only, 13-14 second type car is where I'd draw the line.
