I agree with the fuel leaching through the lines. I had to replace mine with teflon lined braided lines and fittings. I used 3 loops at about 8" in diameter and I have a fuel filter at the end before exiting the trunk. I also have the loops above the fuel cell so no fuel can slosh into them.

It does work and it's cheap so if it doesn't work try the charcoal canister.
