The manual transmission cars (2009+) have VVT, but no MDS (block has the MDS ports plugged in the lifter valley). There are differences between the pre-VVT and VVT blocks. One I'm pretty sure of is the VVT engines 1st cam bearing bore size has a larger diameter. Probably oil passage differences are well to feed the cam phaser.
