To clear up any confusion the stud it'self should never be torqued only the attaching nut.We usually turn the stud in till it bottoms out and turn it out at least 1/4 turn.We lube all the threads and both sides of the washers.The two common lubes for all threaded componants are 30#oil and molylube.Torque values with oil are higher than with molylube since there is less friction when using the moly.There are quite a few advantages to using studs than bolts.
