Question posted on Moparts….. Cylinder Pressure & Octane Requirements, What is a good PSI to shoot for on a pump gas motor with aluminum heads & .040 quench....(California 91 octane) Thanks!

there's a lot of factors involved but conservatively on 91 octane with good quench and head cooling, 175 psi cranking shouldn't be a problem. you really should do the math for dynamic pressure though. look for around 8.5-1 dynamic.
if the cooling system isn't up to the task it'll put you past the safe mark. it also requires proper tuning, so hopefully you'll be up to the task in that department too. if not, be alittle more conservative. with that said, you can push the limits if your careful in your selections of components and tuning.
