Go to nhraracer.com then to Stock Car Classification on the left side under the Tech area. Click on Plymouth 1971 open the PDF file and scan down to line 253 and 255. Scan over to the right and read the weights under the engines with the single * . That is for the stock class cars. Note that the 340 Duster weighs 274 pounds more than the 318 Duster. I can't explain that either but I don't know any other way to find the weight online.

340 car would have a 727, 318 would have a 904. 340 would have an 8.75 rear, Standard trans 318 also has an 8.75. 318 auto has a 7.25. 340 car also has a beefier spring pack. Even so, 274 pounds sounds like a lot.

Intake manifold, 4-bbl carb, exhaust manifolds, dual exhaust, wheels/tires/spare, and plenty of other heavier parts on a 340 as compared to a 318.

The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.
