make sure the o-ring on the needle/seat is not out of its bore. to high/to low can let fuel past o-ring and blow out adjusting screw/nut.

you get the new felt/paper washers in a rebuild kit or upgrade to the nylon washers.

I had a bowl gasket split/cut/break and leak fuel on the top side of bowl.

when was the last time it got a fresh kit in it?

50 bux well spent. I found my PV blown/transfer tube O-rings flat.
and new gaskets sealed the leaks up. no wonder it was pig rich at idle.

if you use the felt/paper gasket it helps to coat them with vasline to keep them soft/non-stick. helps the O-rings seal/slide in the bore with out sticking over time.
