i've had 2 trucks, that had frame cracks develop at the steering box. after grinding out the crack, and drilling holes at the ends of the cracks, i had them welded up. i then ground down the welds, and used the braces. these were 2wd street trucks. the factory added the brace, after it became clear the frames couldn't handle the stress of the gearbox.
