Sounds like he has lost power to the power distribution center out under the hood. Get a test light and see if the large red wire going into the front of it has power. If someone has put on some aftermarket replacement battery cable ends this could be the problem. Possible bad connection there, i.e. corroded wire or loose in the terminal. They are also prone to break the wire(s) to the ignition switch and have a no power condition. This is mainly on trucks with tilt column. If you got power to the PDC, pull the plastic shrouds behind the steering wheel and look at the ignition switch wires at the connector to the switch under the column.
