What is strange to me though, is that you said that if you manually shift from 1st to 2nd that it will make the shift at 5500? That is surprising to me because the governor should still be controlling the 1/2 shift even when the selector is in 2nd gear. (for example, if you put the car in 2nd on the shifter, drive normally and it will still make the 1/2 shift.)

Are you certain that the shift was as high as you think it was? You could also try lowering the line pressure slightly to see if that helps.



If you look at his post, it says that the rpms went well past 5500 when he manually shifted also.
