If not too bad, rusty chrome plate on steel can sometimes be completely resurrected.

It seems as though the iron rust molecules migrate to the top surface of the chrome plating and can be removed back down to the bare chrome by polishing. Select a test area to concentrate on, and polish with a chrome polish as long as you can keep detecting any slow improvement. As much as two or three hours of hand polishing may be needed, well worth it to save an original part.

This is the way I saved my turn signal lever and floor shift lever.

I tried, but the chrome exhaust tips just didn't show any improvement.




I agree. I took some never dull to mine and it took the rust right off. Only took 10 or so minutes.
