I agree with 1KoolBee that it may be solenoid/transducer related. My 47RE burnt the gov sel on my first tow. Wouldn't shift out of 1st even at 5k. Seemed to freewheel after coasting but would jump into 3rd gear if you coasted down a hill fast enough. Lets us know about the checkball thing.
