This is what I did. My old seal leaked as soon as you started the truck up, so it was a pretty bad leak that definatly needed attention. It was pretty easy to replace and saved me a butt load of money. I seem to remember I had a hard time getting some washers or clips out and needed a couple of picks and magnets. It was quite a while ago so I don't remember which, and the seal I put in is still going strong.
