You probably wont be able to find any code on the truck to tell if if is factory equipped with tow package. There are a few things you can look for though to confirm it however. First it should have a 7 way RV connector in the bumper and a 4 way trailer connector under the truck attached to the hitch. The hitch should be part of the rear frame crossmember hoop and should not be bolted to the bumper through the 3 holes in the bumper where you could put a trailer ball. The dealer installed and aftermarket hitches mount this way and are not factory. The last thing to look for is the 4 way plug under the dash by the big bulkhead of wires going through the firewall left of the drivers feet under the dash. This connector is usually blue in color and is used with an adapter harness to easily plug in an electric trailer brake controller if needed. If you are lucky, if it is already plugged in, you might find the harness in the glove box from when it was shipped from the factory. If not, you can get them at the parts store or the dealer.
