Transmission fluid temp is about 120 degrees when not towing. Yesterday in strong head wind towing a 24 ft. trailer the temperature went to about 168 degrees. It is a 2004 Silverado 1500 Z71 package. Manual says range of 100 degrees to 260 degrees is normal. Anyone think the above rise in temperature is a problem? It does have a transmission cooler on it from the factory.

I use to see a lot higher temps. when towing my 24 ft enclosed trailer in the Mojave desert in the summer in my 1998 24 valve CTD with automtic, 230/240 F up hill(17 miles up Baker grade CA) at 70 MPH with the air on in high gear and locked out of O.D. It would run between 160 and 190 F on the flats towing at speeds in the summer, a lot colder when not towing I would like to see at least 160 F at all times or higher Some of the color additives in most ATF start to change colors at or above 275 F and then will turn black at or above 325 F Your golden
