It's been awhile since I've done a SB trans removal, I think you can jack the motor up enough(remove the distributor cap before removing the trans ) to slide a short piece of 2x4 wood stud under the oil pan and drag link Thats what I do with the BB cars when having the trans out, that or use a racthet strap wrap around the torsion bars under the oil pan lots of ways to skin that cat
