Is it possible for this to make make noise when it goes bad?
I think I may have a bad one in my motor.
The first time I took my car out for a quick drive (after a lengthy redo) it ran fine for a lttle while, after a bit it started to run pretty bad but managed to make it back home. Ever since then it has been making a noise, louder than a lifter tap but less than a knock; and definitely in the block somewhere. Now when I try to start the car there is no fuel in the carb. I can prime the carb and get it started, but once it drops down in revs to idle the fuel bowl empties out. I'm thinking that at lower RPM's it doesnt have enough length left to pump with any pressure. I am hoping the noise and fuel issues are related, but never knew a fuel pump to make noise. The push rod has beeen in this motor since the 90's, but never used as it always had an electric pump when in my other car.
Have a new pushrod on the way, but trying to calm my fears on more damage in the motor.
