You will need to find out what the motor wants to be shifted at in each gear.On a new motor, or cam or converter change, I try shifting at 5500 RPM for two or three runs and then 6000, then 6500 and go on up until the car reaches it best performance. Once I know that it likes bewteen, say for conversation sake 6500 and 7000 RPM, I'll try 6700, maybe go up or down a hundred rpm each way to see if the motor and converter combination is peaky or wide on the shift points
