J,

That's a mistake on Jeg's part.
Both are cam and lifter kits.

There are several differences between AC and AE, I could darn near write a book on that one topic, but it'd be better to hit the highlights....the main ones that make a difference are:

-on AE, purple paint was traded for an etched component number (which does not match the package number).
I usually washed the paint off with carb cleaner anyway.
So purple shafts are not purple anymore (don't anyone be freaked out), but 10 years from now the component number can be ID'd, so nobody will have to guess what it is.

-AC had Stanadyne lifters, AE has Johnson Hylift lifters,
a quality improvement. Lifters are still made in Michigan, just at a different place now.

-No more break in lube with AE. Within the next couple years the break in lube will be categorized as a type of hazmat, which is too big a can of worms to monkey with anymore. Things are not going to get any better in that regard....It was a proactive move.

-I sheet was extensively reworked on AE

There's more, but those are the big ones.

Cam is still ground in Michigan same as before, same grinder, packaged in MI also, same packager since 07/08-ish.
