A friend of mine made a cool "farm truck" by sitting his '52 IH on a mid 90s Dakota chassis. The trick is finding a frame that is the right width, as it's pretty easy to alter the length.

It is basically a re-bodied stock 318 automatic Dakota. He even kept the Dakota firewall and dash in it, which made it a relatively easy project. Ride height can be wherever you want it, it all depends on where you mount the body to the Dakota. Dead-reliable, comfortable, and no expensive parts.
