3/16" thick!?! That must have weighed a ton! I used 2x3" square tube .100 wall and that was plenty thick. Slotted open the front part of the rear sub-frame so the 2x3 tube slides right inside it and weld it all back up after. Came out great.

Here are a couple pics of my brother doing it on his 66 charger. You can see the connectors stick through the floor a small amount in the rear passengers feet area but it's not noticeable at all when you trim the carpet insulation out directly above that part of the frame connector then throw a rubber floor mat back there.
