I have a car with black looking oil on the dip stick.

I know they say change every 6 months or 3,000 miles.

It has about 700 miles since last change and about 10 months.

I have only changed the oil one time since I had bought it.

I drove it a few hundred miles before changing it.

Thinking that the previous owners did not change often enough and now may have deposits, sludge making the oil dark.

Do you think it is sludge turning the oil dark so soon?

Do you think more frequent oil changes would clear up the dark oil?

My Ram, can go 3000 miles before adding oil and it only turns a dark gold color.
