My first idea was silver solder. I don't have access to a welder either, sadly, or I think I might have tried that.

I might actually give the screw/epoxy thing a go. Sounds pretty easy and safe.

Will be able to get at it next weekend during Thanksgiving (Canadian), which gives me 3 days to screw it up.
