What if a cylinder head has a O-ring receiver groove machined into the heads, and your not going that route. I know decking will take care of it, but what if you dont want to deck out the groove?
The block will not have the groove in this case. I dont see how it can effect the seal as long as the O-ring is inside or even out side the head gasket fire ring?

Been there done that more than once, go for it Make absolutely sure that the head gasket will seal up before the O ring groove, don't have the O ring groove in the combustion chamber area and cross over under the gasket
