Edelbrocks are messed up out of the box and I think that part of their bad reputation arrises from guys who don't set them up properly. It's a pain to have to take a new carb apart and 'fix' it, but it needs to be done. You can turn the screws until your hand falls off, but it won't matter if the float settings are out to lunch.

I own the carter strip kit, but rarely need to do more than a jet and/or rod change with a new carburetor at this elevation (2800 ft). It just depends on where you live.
