We used to check for pressure in them first.Then we evacked the system and pulled a vacuum.If it held we charged and checked for leaks.If they leaked we re evaced the system as its illegal to fill a system that has a leak.thanks feds.There are a few sealrs that will seal small leaks and do a great job.Rocky
