Acetone and its many uses - 07/22/09 05:12 PM

Acetone has many abilites to break down surface tension and promote "wetting" on a molecular level.
How about making your own thread loosner with Acetone and a very thin oil like Gibbs and you will have super penetrant!!
or plain hydrolic oil and Acetone 1/2 and 1/2.
and even with gasoline being cheap I still tweek my cars with Acetone, let the begin

Also is a great parts cleaner as it evaporates without leaving a residue and it can be used to thin epoxy paints. I use in on all parts before powder coating.

Re: Acetone and its many uses - 07/23/09 04:18 PM

A long time ago, when I was young and very naive.. I was a rookie at a machine shop... The foreman handed me a styrofoam cup and told me to fill it with acetone...

Being so young and trying to get on his good side, I sprung to the task... filled the cup 3/4 full, put the cap back on the metal can... I carefully picked up the cup not wanting to spill, turned around slowly and took one step.. The bottom of the cup completely dissapeared and the acetone spilled all over the floor..

I said WHAT THE........??? and just about that time, the entire shop busted up laughing.. I was pranked!!!!

maybe add 100% white phosphous for trigger.
dont try this in your kitchen without being

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes I do missiles too from B1B and F15/16 propulsion systems and radar guided missile system design and test. that was the first 8 years of my career at Raytheon and very prolific.
we could hit a dime on the sidewals in times squear from a space sattelite microwave beam then direct "something" to follow that path
better than lasers cause you cant see the red dot before incomming
we can also implant
some AcetonePerox atoms on semiconductor chips and make them self destruct given the right code transmission. they could be Mfg and put in anything electronic and let sit dormant till time for a blast

Unbiased

Tested the acetone mix on my 2001 F 150 5.4 liter truck around town through a whole 20+ gallon full tank of gas.

No noticible change in gas mileage. I normally average 11.2 to 12.5 mpg around town. No change for me!!

The test car in the vid showed above/earlier showed a gain of 2.4% with acetone.

A gain of 3% from my low of 11.2 mpg for me is = to 11.46 mpg.

A change in driving habits, can gain alot more mpg change then that, and alot easier then adding acetone to your tank along with its added expense!

But, I do want to look into the aspects of the home brew rust buster effects a little more! But I am also interested in its flammability traits as well compared to the other products.

Acetone is very flammable IMO,

And as a MPG booster

Its absolutely not worth it for the trouble or its dangers. mike

I uSE"
AMISH JUICE
5 OZ TO A GALLON MIX AND GET STUCK IN A DITCH IN PA.
THEN ACCOSTED BY A BUNCH OF PEOPLE WEARING BLACK & WHITE
sometimes im attacked by a stampede of black and white cows, then I use "Cow Juice" additive. the extra calcium makes my Rods stiffer

but seriously I use various mixes depending on the atmospheric pressure and air density/tempature at the time.
generally a mixture of:
Acetone
Xylene
Kerosene
Tranny fluid.

Acetone and Xylene are approx the same cept Xylene is carcinogen so which ever one is gotten free.
Kerosene has high BTU content and boosts octane and provides additional power (Kjoles) per cyl filling.
ATF also provides additional BTU power and octane boost plus some lubricity propites to top cylinder area.
for 10 gallons of 89 pump gas run 4:2:2. ratio
4 ozAcetone
2 oz Kerosene
2 oz ATF

What is the makeup of Marvel Mystery Oil?

I know that some add it at every fill up and use it in place of lead additives to keep the exhaust valve seats happy.
