This is a photo of the numbers on a transmission that a friend picked up and would like to know what it came out of. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the link, learned a lot about the date codes. He found the partial VIN on the bellhousing but the first couple of characters are hard to read.

iagree looks like partial VIN "8A105091" & transmission part number "J2801544 3421187" (1968 HEMI 727 automatic transmission)

anyone have knowledge or a theory on a decode for the transmission unit number: 3421187 ??

three possibilities for the VIN: RM21J, RS23J, WS23J work

As far as the 3421187, I have come to the conclusion it is a running tally of units built. I have never seen another answer that made a lot of sense.
