Like title says, need help ID'ng this unit, was told it's a 4.56 in good shape,thanks in advance.

Thats a clutch type. The gear ratio can usually be found on the outer section of the ring gear.

The ring gear teeth # and the pinion gear teeth # are on the ring gear, requires math. 44/9=4.88 gears

44/9 = 4.88 ratio

Looks like a clutch type sure trip. 742 casting is large bearing straight shaft pinion.

The clutches can be replaced if worn.

Overall not a bad score if you need the stump puller gears.

Thanks for the answers, didn't realize it was that easy to tell the ratio, now that I know what it is I can list it, not going to use it, thanks again.

nice I just picked up a whole rear 742 5-13 on a sweet deal not sure if I'm running it already have 4-30 in it
