Interesting. I had a long conversation with a legacy cam grinder about the "flat tappet failure problem" and he was emphatic that the majority of failures were caused by poor workmanship during manufacture. This video seems to support that, at least with lifters.

Does this mean that NO ONE no longer makes quality flat tappet products . The roller cams seem to fail as well and require more maintenance. Such as periodic rebuilding. I don't see roller cams as the ultimate solution.

Not lifters, but use the trust but verify method these days to stay out of trouble.

Lots of talk about this on Speed-Talk in the last few years if you Google it. Mike Jones aka Cam King on there appears to have good inside knowledge on who makes what.

Hylift Johnson lifters do not come with most the of big guys cam and lifter kits best I can tell. Some might, but I'd only trust a direct call to the cam company for that answer. Number of poor parts in circulation these days and lots of finger pointing going on out there.
Also at the bottom they offer lifters with different bleed down rates depending on your cam lift and spring pressures. You have to buy them direct, or find a smaller vendor like Hughes who sells them exclusively.

That Hy-Lift catalog is fantastic. Includes a buyers guide with all the body styles and dimensions.
Thanks!
