I have all my axle brackets bolted together as you can see in the pic. Would it be a bad idea to drill a couple say a 5/8" hole in them and run a tube thru to hold the proper dimension before placing them on the axle? I would think it would make them more rigid and easier to install square on the housing..

Thanks for the info

It really wont make a difference ... if you look your
welded at the axle and the heims are at
the outer edge... you can if you wish... the biggest
thing(mainly on a street car)is the side loading when
you go into corners is the fact that the distance of
the heims from the center line of the axle and when
using a lateral link it flexs the axle brackets and
will end up cracking them on the axle... so to correct
this you need to put a gusset in from the axle to
out on the bracket to control the flex

Thanks Mr P

I just wanted to see if it was worth the extra work. I guess if it was a good idea they would have done it from the factory or included it in the instructions.

I weld in tubes on 4 links like you are talking about
but the brackets are MUCH longer... you can do it
if you wish... it wont hurt... but the heims act
as a tube/spacer

As said I do put a strap on the back and a short
one on the front(to clear the heims)
