My hemi was running lean at low speed and idle so I opened up the air mixture screws from 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 and touched nothing else. Idle screw and throttle not touched. Now when you let off the gas it sticks at around 2,000 until you hit the throttle as if taking off the choke. Carbs are 600 edelbrock one to one on a stage V manifold with a shaker. No problem with cable, linkage or return spring. Thanks Mike
The accelerator pump linkage was binding up on front carb.

Too much coincidence to have accelerator cable fray inside its housing at same time. But that's why the word coincidence was created.
If cable is disconnected from carbs, does this still occur. If disconnected from carb and linkage between carbs is disabled, will blipping only one carb reduce idle to normal.
Does it feel if manipulation of carbs directly that you feel a slight hesitation of tension as though a butterfly in bore is hanging up.
Can you slow idle down just by increasing spring tension by tugging on it and not blipping throttle?
Foot feed not tangling up in floor mat somehow?
Pcv valve hose connected back to vacuum source!
Vacuum advance hose if you, still connected?

I had this happen to me using 2 different carbs. Finally figured out the culprit was distributor spring advance was too light and letting the timing move forward too much at 1400 RPM and would not come back down unless I foot braked it with the clutch out. Once the RPM was forced to drop, it would idle just like it was supposed to idle at 1000 just like normal. Just throwing it out there.

Update the front accelerator pump linkage was binding up on front carb.
