Has anyone ever ran one on a big comp, sb,400+ cube race motor? with w5 or 360-1 heads. I would like to hear about it if so. I have ran one on both combos, would like to compare with someone else. I ran one on my 340 W-2....I had issues with valve springs and the junk vac secondary carbs... with the right set up they work great

The first one I ran was on a 14.5comp, w5, 408ci, R block. The one I am currently running is a 360-1rp, 433ci, R3 combo. Neither want to pull into the 6,500 on up rpm much, both have or had large rollers and proper springs and such, current combo runs best shifted at 6,200. Nothing is the same on either motor besides the intake.

Car weighs 3,072 with the w5, r block combo, 727, went 9.55@139.99 best. New combo is 3,092 with r3, 360-1 combo, 727, has went 9.38@142.79. But..... Neither want to rev AT all.

I would have expected a much higher rpm.... at least 8000+ if the heads flow and the cam is big enough EDIT What do you call enough spring... whats the pressures

Both are correct to coil bind also

My old 422 w5 was done about 7400-7500 or so...... 273/280@50 roller.... Went 9.80's at 135 in a 3350 pound car with 727. Shifted it at 7 trapped about 7400. Current owner shifts it at 7500. Went with bigger more aggressive roller, another point in compression( from 13 to 14 to 1) car has now been 9.62@ 140 weighing 3220. It actually was quite done around 7500 at 422 inches, definately on the downward ramp power wise, with my smallish cam.
