My wife and I have been looking for a van and found a 2006 Chrysler with 101K highway miles. 3.3L V6. Supposedly driven from Redding, CA to Sacramento or San Jose every weekend.
It's below blue book and looks pretty nice. I know that highway miles are fine on an engine, but what about the tranny? Does the same apply? What should I look out for?
I was hoping for less miles, but with them being all highway I'm tempted to go with this van.

Thanks!

I thought that any major auto tranny issues were corrected by the 2002 model.

I read here that the 2002 and up models had the better transmissions. So that's what we've been looking for. I just didn't know if highway miles on a transmission are okay just like on an engine. Seems like they would be since it's not shifting.
Thanks for the input!

I have a 06 Caravan 3.3 with right at 80,000 miles. The only problem I have had is front brake pads only last like 30,000 miles. No problem with the trans at all.

They gobble brakes. I did two fronts and 1 rear when I sold it by 40k. That van turned me to the dark side, and I won't look back. Their C.S is horrible.

Gobble brakes ?

I have a way-earlier Caravan that I have put 50k on the pads ...and they still look new.

That 03 killed the first set before 15,000. The second set lasted to about 30,000, at which point the backs needed replacing. Sold that pig at 40,000 needing brakes again. The brakes I don't mind, they're cheap enough. It's the other stuff and the way the dealer and corporate treated me over other dilemas with that van. We loved the first one we had, the second one was such a clunker I will never buy another one.
