Firing up the 68 charger r/t that has been sitting for a couple of years. Tank was dry so I put in a couple of gallons. When I go to start it, a geyser comes out of a tube on the carb. Obviously both not safe and not going to start that way. What's the fix?

Trash in needle valve/seat or maybe just stuck. Try tapping on the adjuster screw.

Note: that tube is the primary bowl vent. I agree you have a needle and seat either stuck, dirty , or leaking. A little tap on the adjuster is worth a try. More than likely you will need to replace the needle and seat assembly. If you do replace it, make absolutely sure you use Holley needle and seat assembly ( the screw locks it in place, the hex is what you turn to screw it into the bowl/ adjust. NEVER use the aftermarket assemblies that the screw slot adjusts the assembly , they most often ruin the threads in the bowl.

If the tapping doesn't work, is this what I am looking at getting?

That is the type you need, however there are different sizes and also special ones for different fuels. You need to get the correct one for the size/model carb you have, and on gasoline you just need the viton tipped one. It should not be near as expesive as the number you were looking at. You can probably get one or a pair at a local parts store. here I would try O'Reillys.

If it’s been sitting for two years, more than likely the o-ring on the needle/seat assy shrunk and is allowing fuel to pass by.

I’d be replacing both front and rear.
