What do trim guys do with carpet that needs to be cut around the roll cage down bars? Will also need a slit to the outside edge perpendicular to the sill plate. Do they just cut as needed and use some kind of edging to keep the ends from unraveling? Any pictures would be helpful. Thanks.

Like to use carpet that has no backing. The edges do not ravel on this type of carpet. Just cut with a razor blade. A bolt hole for belts can be made with a large punch. Just heat the punch with torch and poke it through.

Instead of a torch and punch to put holes in carpet, you can use a soldering iron if that's more handy.

So...no edging required to make a finished looking edge? I don't have a problem with this since it makes it easier. I already pull the backing off because of the additional weight.

the soldering gun trick works very well. and kind of "melts" the edge. Actually looks pretty finished when your done. Just go little at a time

with B Body Bob and n20mnstr about the soldering iron, it's slick for doing the holes

You may want to look into a hot knife to trim the edges and make the slits for the bars

Anyone just cut an "X" for bolts/fasteners and just fold the flaps closed when tight? Or does that look terrible?

Guy that did my carpet used the factory loop type carpet and cut then sewed it back together at all the seems once it was in the car. Looks like you slid the bars thru it

Was a lil pricey but looks sweet

how about some plastic bendable door edge protector , with carpet slid into it and wrap around the bar, and glue the ends together? Thats what I use on my show car!

Plenty of good ideas that I wasn't thinking of. I will try the soldering iron for the holes. I have had a new carpet set here in the box for about two years....bout time I install it.
