I just scored a '92 Plymouth Acclaim for $100 because I needed a dirt cheap commuter car that actually has heat in the winter. The engine is the 2.5 four banger. It will run okay when you first crank it up and then when it warms up, it will just die. The timing set has been replaced a while back..

I am thinking that it is probably a dead or dying fuel pump. Any other ideas?

For anybody else that has owned one, what are the weak points of these? I knew a guy in school that owned one and it was a really good car.

Dirty way to see if it is running out of fuel, at the throttle body, pinch off the rubber on the return side connection (the smaller one).

Yes, the reluctor plate in the distrib was also an issue, as it was staked in via melted plastic---sometimes they loosen up.

Map sensors are known for getting water in them, but usually then it just starts and dies---just saying for future reference though.

As far as the cars themselves, the biggest issue is rust. Good cars overall as far as i am concerned and a breeze to work on. Way underpowered by todays standards and not nearly as quick, but they do 20's for milage and are built well---as long as they aren't rusted hulks.

Outcast Dodge guy.
