I've been trying to remove the valve body but can't get the park rod to come out. Tried turning tail shaft but it will only turn 1/16" either direction, what's the secret to unlocking this? 94 Ram 1500 4x4 360 engine.

Are the rear wheels off the pround ? Trans out of park ???

Put the trans in a gear that you can see the snap ring holding the park rod to the VB and put the snap ring off and pull the VB down , then work on getting the park rod out.

I have a small piece of 3/16 line that has a bend on it and the end of the tube is crushed flat with a thin enough opening to hold the e clip to reinstall it without having to pull the park rod.

Hi John, I've got the trans out on the floor. I've put the lever in all selections and still can't get the tail shaft to move to let the rod come out, transfer case is removed. I'll try getting that clip off. Thanks

There the tail shaft should turn easier in one direction that the other , but I can't remember if there is a roller sparg in the back of the OD section also that might be why you are having trouble turning it in either direction.
