Seems like you might be the first one to try a trial-and-error approach with junkyard plastic shrouds.
Did you see 'Feets' thread on this topic? I assume it was about 26" radiators. -Art

My 65 I run a 65 C body rad with the steel shroud.Its never been touched and runs 180 all day.My sons 62 300 with a slightly built 413 and recored to 4 core stock rad runs 180 also.He dosnet run any shroud.Rocky

I used a 26" radiator in a 22" opening and settled on a Mercedes electric fan.
Since my car was not a restoration I could take liberties that others may not care to copy.

I have a 22" slant six a-body I would sell. I set it on top of a metal shroud and it looks like it would work.
Getting old just means you were smarter than some and luckier than others.
