Is there any specific dates when the shaker-bubble started to be black in 71..Instead of argent silver?

I have friend here in sweden,he purchased a original (survivor) 71 v-code cuda from colorado with the argent silver bubble on..He claims that it is the original bubble for the car.But everyone he has talked with thinks it should be a black on instead..Dont know the build date of the car..

It's true, some VERY early 71's got Dark Argent bubbles but those would be the absalute exception, the vast majority were black organosol.

..and the reason some have argent bubbles is that Fram just grabbed some 'in stock' scoop assemblies that were already there, and shipped them to Hamtramck to meet demands in peak periods.
The reason they had in stock scoops is that when the Challenger shaker hood was put on hold in late 69, Fram had already sent to Hamtramck several bedsteads of assembled argent units for production.
Hamtramck didn't want or need them hanging around and shipped them back to Fram.
There were approximately 60 units in a bedstead, all with the Challenger scripted engine denotation nameplates.
Since the scoops were not manufactured by Fram, rather than wait for them when an order needed to be filled, they pulled the in stock ones, changed the Dodge nameplates to required Plymouth ones and shipped the units.
As time went on and shaker production for Challenger resumed, the already assembled units were sent back to Hamtramck as required.
This also accounts for why many 71 factory shaker Challengers came through with argent scoops.
Unused assemblies already sitting at Fram were sent first to deplete the stock.
My May built 71 shaker 440-6 Challenger has an argent scoop and there are many other 71 shaker Challengers that way that I know of.

My May-built 71 340 shaker Challenger also came with an Argent scoop. My Sep-built R/T came with a black scoop.

as told to me by the man Fram sent to Hamtramck for week in 1969 to show line workers how to install and adjust the assemblies on the cars...
...and hated being there!

I'd be interested to know if there's any merit to either rumour for the pause in Challenger shaker hood production:

1. The tooling was broken/damaged resulting in limited availability for the hood

2. The non-crush zone hoods for '70 were a major liability on the Challengers (didn't buckle and instead sliced into the passenger compartment in a crash) - thus the option was stopped until they could be re-tooled for crush zones.

The issue would not be as severe on a 'Cuda because of the 'hatch hood' and header panel distributing the forces of impact better.

No, he was there in the earliest stages in 69 before the Challenger shaker production was halted, and since Fram had nothing to do with manufacture of the hoods themselves, he could not offer any expanation, other than all this "crap" as he used to call it , was being shipped back to Fram.
