the can has been opened....

Im glad youre moving forward! I agree with Alan, I would rather have a beautiful cruiser than a dented and scratched one!

I started with a need for some motor work

and now....

No holes . Was a little leary doing it, but poked all around with an ice pick and no soft spots found. Just surface rust.

Windshield was pulled and no rust found under the glass. These are from this morning. Looks great to my eyes, but Eddie says paint was a little heavy on the metallic and has some tiger stripes showing on the hood and trunk. I couldn't see them. He is going to switch to Dupont and reshoot in a few days.

Looks great, I'd love to have a fresh coat of paint like that on my car.

Been dragging my feet updating the status, but here are a few of the latest pics.

Respray done and waiting for cut and buff

From this past weekend.... car buffed and waiting for the windshield to be put back and the stripes

Windshield in and stripes going on. Crappy cell phone pics here.

Getting ready for short cruise home. Temporary install of rear bumper for brake lights.

Squeezed in next to my '73. Now to put it back together so I can drive it safely across town to get the vinyl top installed. I'll finish my '73 tail lights while the '74 gets the vinyl and then I'll have both to drive the rest of the summer.

Looks really good. I know a lot of people tried to convince you to keep the original paint but they don't have to hear the critics tell you that the car looks great but the paint is old. Better you should do what you want and enjoy what you have than live up to someone elses take on the car.

That looks terrific. My guess is you're shorting yourself on sleep so you can hang parts on it faster!

I can only do an hour or so in the garage. Too hot, can't take it like I could 10 years ago , even with fans.

Got a few things done the past few weeks when I could stand the heat. Detailed the radiator support and front panels, put all of the bumper brackets together and installed the bumper. A fun job when working alone. Installed the a/c condensor, but waiting on the top brackets and dryer brackets from the powder coater. Installed the door handles, locks, side marker lights and mirrors and the nos wheel opening trim I picked up a few weeks ago. Waiting on a call to get the vinyl top and headliner installed, hopefully this week. Still have loads of paint shop mess to clean up.

Mostly completed, less a few small pieces, more detailing and getting the a/c charged.

It looks great!

I used home store foil coated insultation for my RR and Javelin.
I have not got enough use out of it to tell how it does and lasts yet.

Stephen, great work on a beautiful car! These 3rd generation Chargers are just as cool as their brothers before them... you just need to find one with the correct options/color combo and you sir did that.

Congrats again on a sweet ride....

Enjoy,
Bryan

I got a roll of 2 ft by 25 ft at Lowe's and used spray adhiesive. Later this fall I'll pull the front seat and carpet and complete the job. 2 rolls at $24.00 each will do a complete car with some left over.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Now I can spend a little time on my '73 to get it back on the road. Atleast I don't have anymore boxes of '74 parts taking up space.
