Recently bought an MSD Digital 6A box, "pro-billet" ditributor, blaster coil, + MSD wires for my car. It's a 72 Satellite that had a points style distributor stock.
The directions for the Digital 6A box say not to use a dial-back-to-zero timing or digital timing light.
Any idea why this might be ? Why would it not be accurate [?]
The only timing light i own is a dial back to zero style.
Am hooking up components today, and would like to set initial timing.

stock 1972 400" 2 bbl motor, with a 4 bbl manifold, holley 4bbl, stock exhaust manifolds, with dual exhaust, and camshaft specs are -214/225 .449/.464 @ .050

Thanks

Yeah, the multiple sparks at low RPMs give a false reading to some dial-backs and digital lights{mine included}...Craftsman{Sears} has a cheap standard light if you need one without too much effort... ..

What Screamin said but might try it w the knob on zero & see if it acts good and can mark the dampener to get more than the tab will normally show you, use the spaces between the tab marks for a ruler to make addit'l marks on the dampener to the right (CW) from the O TDC slit or .0632683" is 1 deg so 1" around the circumference is 16 deg

Bring the engine up to 3200 RPM and there is no multiple spark on MSD, Mallory or Crane.
