dusterbd13 OP enthusiast D Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 257 albemarle, NC	ive got an exhaust leak on the drivers side of my small block 70 duster. its not coming from the head or collector flanges, near as i can tell. that leaves the slip fit tube. car has full TTI headers and exhaust, ceramic coated on the headers. has anyone had a leak here? if so, how did you fix it? Challenger 1 Too Many Posts Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 28,312 Cincinnati, Ohio	Get yourself a rubber hose about 1/4" ID by 3' long or so. Stick one up to your ear and move the other end around by the suppected leak. You will find it that way. Was the tune up ever "off" with the headers bolted up?

dusterbd13 OP enthusiast D Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 257 albemarle, NC	the headers were installed when i built the motor and car. the tune was off for the first couple of engine firings. this is the first ive heard of using a hose. can you elaborate some? and here in NC, were officially out of chilly mornings fpr the next 6 months or so. Golden-Arm I Live Here Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 10,570 Sunny South Florida	snag a used stethoscope from ebay. remove the chest piece from the end, and put a small piece of metal tube on it. (to keep from melting the rubber) move around all flanges and welds, with the tip. you'll know the leak, when you find it. the post up top, is the same thing. a rubber tube/hose held to your ear, will amplify the leak, as you move it around the engine. it will be obvious when you find it. sort of like using a big screwdriver to listen for knocks. just making do, with what you have. Exact same thing Doc, for us poor mechanics, I use a simple piece of 5/16"ID hose or tubing. It can be much longer than 3 feet and bigger diameter too. A small diameter tubing will transfer distint sounds when held real close to the tube. When you find the leak is is very loud in the tube and in your ear. Works the best for finding exhaust leaks. Try it your see. You don't even need the fancy ear peices and one ear is plenty. Don't pour stuff down your carb or try looking under your car while it's running. That's not smart or safe. You can tape the end of the tubing to a stiff wire and stick that wire anywhere you want from above, even between the four pipes where they join the collector. It works great.

440abody mopar Joined: May 2004 Posts: 533 North Dakota	I had the same problem with my TTi's on my 440 after the first couple of start ups. Turned out to be the gaskets. Swapped them all out for Remflex's and the problem went away. Also make sure you re torque your bolts on the header after a couple of heat cycles as they will also loosen up. 73 Dart Swinger 440/727 8.75 w/3.55's 34 Ford 3w coupe with a soon to be 1958 392HEMI!
