on my cuda project. i'm running a fuel cell, since it has 2 outputs, i was thinking about putting 2 jegs pumps (for sale in race section is what got me thinking) on the car insted of just 1 mallory 140 like i have on the challenger which has always seemed like plenty.

with 2 pumps feeding one line, does that really increase pressure or create any other kind of problems? i'm running 1/2 aluminum line to the front of the car.

opinions?

I run 2 Holley black 150s... line out of the tank
(one from each fitting to each pump then a Y going
forward... a regulator up front with return.... you
gain volume... if both pumps are equal then the pressure
is equal but gain in volume/flow

I had a customer that i just made this for, originally had twin intake pumps that drew alot of amperage and wouldn't support the power he was making. we made this to run one big external pump that would draw about the same amperage but flowed almost double. ive seen it done either way

depends if they're in series or in parallel. if in parallel make sure you use a one-way check value.
in series increases flow but not proportionately.

The base standard set up has always been two elec pumps (Holley blue pumps or equivalent) into one 1/2 line
Two pumps do not increase pressure (as previously stated) but MAINTAIN volume. A typical race pump can create enough volume with the car at rest and at steady speed to supply the demands of the engine, but upon acceleration the volume drops dramatically do to physics (a body at rest tends to stay at rest) so the fuel in the lines gets harder to push (because it wants to "stay at rest") upon launch and if your car has any type of 60' time and acceleration, there isn't enough fuel in the bowls to support the "Lag" in fuel volume.
Also one pump works at a given duty cycle (work over time)but two will cut that duty cycle in half, (half the work over same amount of time) and increase pump life greater than the cost of a new pump. (especially if you factor in the probability that it will fail just as you are about to line up for the finals!)As work demand goes up life goes down, it is not linier but exponential, meaning that if a devise is working at 90% duty cycle lives for 50 hrs, it will live much longer than 100hrs at 45% duty cycle(this is a fictious example but typical of most mechanical devices)
Anyway all this goes out the window with the advent of the 250, 400, and larger race pumps that are available today, except for the duty cycle rule...

well, my mallory 140 has worked flawlessly with their return style regulator for years but i am going to put 2 cheaper fuel pumps on the project car. thanks for the replies
