The turnout seem pathetic, 7ssha, 61 in pro,25 s/p .They ran a full qualifying session in less then two hours. I dont think this event can survive with the costs what they are.I hope they can come up with something. I like a lot of others, dont have the funds to be there so i am racing locally Sunday.

Al McGuire had a nice .007 light and ran 8.44 in the quick 16 qualifier!

It rained.. it snowed, it was windy and it was sunny short sleeve weather today... also the track is horrid... no prep and the cross wind had us skating all over the place.. On one run I couldnt even do an 1/8th mile pass.. Sure hope tomorrow is better

A different result: My Dart hooked great and I had the best 60' ever while running a 10.27 which equaled my best sea level pass!! Maybe it's how the car is setup as I am aware of several cars that set best times for them. Also I was the first car down the track after the snow/rain and had one of my best runs, so I think LVMS did a great job prepping the track. Boy your right about the wind, it couldn't decide which way to blow and how hard! I'm parked right on the road to the staging lanes, stop and say hi!..

Though I've been out of the loop for a couple years, I find it very hard to believe that there was NO track prep Don. LVMS has always had the finest in track prep from what I've experienced. 20 MINUTES TILL PRO ROUND 1!!!!!

The important thing is you are there laying down mid-10 second passes! Good luck today!!!

I'm heading to the right lane, unless forced. Criz's land yacht sounded good on the 1320 pull.

That's not good to hear.... In the past it's always seemed top notch. Only issue I ran into was years ago when they ran saturday night races at the dirt oval. The wind would blow dust on the top end. Made it slick enough to where even my junk would start flickering the shift light as the tires fought for traction.

Both passes I saw Ted launch on were in the L lane. Car made an immediate right turn, the second worse than the first. Did note that most of the day when I checked in that the DA was around the 2400/2500 mark. That's pretty dang good air for Vegas .

There seemed to be alot of broken differentials this
weekend and we were one of them. stripped all the
teeth off the spider gears, time for a 35 spline spool
and axles at a minimum. 67 cuda stroked R3 block about
650 HP. Just means it's time to spend more $$$.

I got to visit with Al, Chris and Billy. Saw lots of the
guys on the board running their cars.

Well two seperate times at the top of first gear my tires were spinning...That should not happen especially with a car that makes the power mine does. The semi final I tried my dardest to take out the wall at the 1000' mark when the car made a hard left turn, cost me the race as I had to lift being only a couple feet from the wall. In the semi's of Q16 three of the four cars did not get down the track, the only one that did was my opponent in a dragster. After the second semi when the AMX got crazy out of shape and almost hit the wall in the same lane I was in they decided to check the track. So draw your own conclusion. I should a few folks my RPM captures from a coupld of runs and we had some issues.

I was very dissapointed in the track to say the least. Can't say I was alone in those feelings. I am sure it was just the way my car is set up. We are not set up to run the car all out and it shows. I do it once a year at this event. I think this may be the last time I do however. If this is the way the track is gonna be then I am not interested. I know sometimes you have to race the track but just not interested in doing it at a once a year race. Although with the way the track was if I had the stop on it may have been uglier when I came off the stop. Oh well back to stop racing for me.

Someday maybe I will buy a converter and se what it can really do, three and a half seconds to gain 300 after the shift just dont cut it not to mention how slow it comes up off the line. To say it is tight is a bit of an understatement...

Guys, I feel your pain. This was the worst work from the track personal in all of the 9 years. I am hoping that this will never happen again. What a embarrasment from parking to track prep. I know that you can't fight Mother Nature for the weather,But please don't hold it against the Painter family for the track workers faults. The only saving grace was the good air ( not normal for LVMS ) made for some fast ET'S. I guess like everything else going on in this country they( the Track ) were trying to cut costs or something.

Yep that's what happened and I have to blame the track prep, cause the car does not usually do that, well maybe a tad, but not so badd I am looking at the tree when I launch. All in all I did have a good time hanging and shooting the breeze with all the MOPARTS members, I seen a bunch and they are all GREAT!!

I actually made it to the event (without the Demon) and got to see a lot of folks. Some good racing in all classes, and a bummer on the track prep. I can't comment on that as I wasn't racing - but for the most part the guys who were talking about it are guys who would know the difference between proper and improper.

It was great to see everyone and the cars all looked and sounded good. Hopefully I'll get my heap back out there one day.

Leigh, no worries. I assume you mean my last burnout in the Semis. Appears I have a line lock problem, showed up loading the car too. Just something to fix no big deal. I thought maybe I was in first gear when she would not move after the burnout. Car just would not roll after I eased up frm the line lock acting up.

As for the track, hey. I was sitting under the tower to be the next pair of cars down the track when the snow began to fall

IMO it is a shame that the best part of this event in my mind, the drag race suffered as it did from issues. Hope the event continues but not this way.......

Tom turns out there really was not an issue. We thought maybe a clogged bleed, which it sort of was with a piece of junk actually sitting on top of it.
