Ok so I had a problem over the weekend . I did miss a shift but not sure it has anything to do with this. Went to push the clutch in a while after and i heard a grinding noise. Looked at it quick today and saw that the throwout bearing is rubbing against the weights of my centerforce clutch. Not sure how this got un aligned . Any ideas what could of happened?
everything is new with about 150 miles.

What they said , even if the TO springs cam off the fork the retainer will still stay centered because it is located by the bearing retainer.
It's hard to tell but it looks like the weghts may have shifted , they do float somewhat , this is why I'm not a big fan of this type clutch .

Ok so i put it up on jackstands just before and the bearing retainer is not cracked. The rings on the weight system of the DF are still in tact. It does move around, i can move it from one side to the other with my hand, but it looks as if when you depress the clutch the fingers on the PP center that weight system so it does not hit the TO bearing. Am i correct on this theroy? heres what i have found on todays test ride. It seems like a 50/50 split that it makes noise or doesnt make noise. The noise its making sounds like a DRY bearing spinning at speed. This noise happens only when i depress the clutch. I can create the noise at a complete stop and more so when im coming to a stop and hold the clutch in and coast. I would suspect it to be a TO bearing but it only does it about 50% of the time i use the clutch. Everything is new. PP ,disc, flywheel, shift, rods, linkages, trans has new syncros, bearings.

TO bearing is a complete new unit with retainer from brewers. Not sure what you mean by the thrust bearing being bad . Are you talking the motor?
I was also thinking maybe when the push the clutch in it unloads the trans and alows something to move around causing the noise. when its under a load driving theres pressure and doesnt cause the noise?
Yes , I'm talking about the motor .
Did you put the clutch disc in the right way ?
Is the trans rebuilt or a SUPPOSEDLY good USED unit ?
As Mr. congeniality says ... stop looking for the easy answer and pull it out , even if it's the T.O. Bearing you have to drop the trans to replace it.

Yes im going to pull it out sunday and let you guys know what i find. Was just seeing if that noise sounded fimilar to anyone so i could buy the parts and have them for sunday so i can get the trans back in the same day. Im thinking either Pilot bushing or TO bearing. Not looking for easy way out believe me. i love tearing into this stuff.
What's the condition/origin of the trans ?
But a TO bearing and a pilot bushing if you want to have those on hand.
I wish i had your vigor , I HATE everything about working on cars lately ...

FWIW. Many years ago when I first installed my CFDF assembly, I cheeped out and used a NEW, OE type T.O. bearing. I had the same problem you are experiencing. I bought a new Centerforce Throwout bearing. Before installing, I put them, face to face. The CF bearing was smalled in diameter. I'm not sure if this is your cure or not, but I haven't had any issues with the CF bearing, going on 8 years now. Good luck. I recommend also to drop the trans and see exactly what is going on.
