If we have any Camshaft expertise on here. this could be a good post.

By cutting the ET are you saying you want to slow
it down ...why not put a smaller carb on

O no cut it down. or quicker. Lower ET. I have two roller cams now and one is a very little quicker so Im thinking with the right comb of lobes might cut some off of the ET. Capiche

At that level your not going to find any e/t in a cam swap... were talking hundredth's of a change in E/T. As long as the current cam isnt way off in left field.
I had a similar engine, and there was no e/t lost or gained.
557" Indy Maxx block 4.5 stroke x 4.44 bore 15:1 cnc ported 440-1's from Modern cylinder, Jesel rockers, .780 lift roller 274-278 ish @50 on a 110 LSA cam..
Toilet Injection on alky.
Car ran 144 MPH in the 8th mile well into the 7's.
Changed a cam cause I thought, and was told more power on tap....
.800+ roller, more duration diff lobes, slightly diff lobe center.... zero change.
Fact is it takes a good bit of power to pick up car at this power level... 8 or 10 hp doesnt show up very well in e/t, no more than good weather conditions or a good or poorly prep'd track anyways.
I dont see another cam making 20-30 hp over the current one, unless it was just flat out in left field for the combo.
I dont think there is any voodoo or black magic in cam design or selection. get the cam in the ball park to what the engine needs and the power will be there.
Converter choice is about the only single change I have ever encountered that can make a substantial diff e/t wise.
But If I was going to try another cam I would call up someone like...
Dewayne Porter
Brian (OU812)
Jeff
Bob George etc.
So they can get it right the first time...
